The Walking Route

A new diversionary route as a result of Forestry harvesting has been introduced between Strathyre and Kingshouse.

This will be effective between the Spring and Autumn 2006 and results in the Way following the waymarked National Cycle Route No. 7 from Strathyre via Stroneslaney and Balquhidder to Kingshouse.

The details can be seen using this link.

Route Diversion Ended
Strathyre to Kingshouse

We are pleased to say that this diversion has now been removed and walkers are able to return to the normal route. The Forestry Commission says that there may still be some traffic on the track, but this will be limited and will not effect the safety of the route.

The Walk Section of the Website

This part of the website provides access to information on each section of the walk, suggested means of breaking up the way into manageable sections, and ideas on accommodation and transportation options.

The Way has some options to suit differing walking times and preferences. A listing of all the possible variations is loaded and accessed by linking here, or by highlighting the section on the route map.

Grid Reference Route Instructions

In response to comments received from some walkers, we have produced a detailed instruction on directions based on O/S Grid References. This will remove any concerns on what junctions to take especially in some of the forest sections. To obtain an e-mailed copy of the instructions click here and send off your request, we will return an attached word document with all the details to your e-mail address.

The Way has an Official Guide Book and Route Map published by Rucksack Readers. This costs £10.99 and can be purchased on line on www.rucsacs.com or through a number of retail outlets in the Rob Roy Way area.

There is also an Official Rob Roy Way Video and this can be purchased from A J McKay Visual Production by e-mailing or accessing the details on this website.

We also provide some information on the complexity of the walk and the elements that we would recommend you plan for in advance of embarking on this route.
